Let yourself be enchanted by the colors of the village of Portovenere, where the sea merges with the land, in an embrace of beauty and mystery.
Portovenere is a precious gem of the Levante, which leaves you breathless for its timeless romance, and fascinates anyone who is lucky enough to experience it.

Located on the Ligurian coast, Portovenere is one of the most beautiful destinations in Italy. With its enchanting bays, pastel-colored houses, crystal-clear sea and green hills, Portovenere is a place that fascinates.

Here’s what to see and do in the beautiful Portovenere in Liguria:

Doria Castle

Located on the hill of Portovenere, Doria Castle was built in the 12th century as a fortress against pirates. Today the castle is a national monument and hosts a series of cultural events throughout the year.

The panoramic view from the top of the castle is breathtaking, as are the works of art exhibited inside.

Church of San Pietro

Located on the top of the hill of Portovenere, the Church of San Pietro is worth a visit not only for its history, but also for the panoramic view of the city. Built in the 13th century, the church has been damaged several times over the centuries and rebuilt following the Gothic style. The church contains many treasures, including a wooden crucifix from the 15th century.

Palmaria Island

Palmaria Island is one of the natural treasures of the region, located in front of Portovenere. This large island offers a spectacular view of the Ligurian coast and the Tuscan coast.
Tourists can take a boat from Portovenere to visit the island and spend a day relaxing on the beach or exploring the caves.

Arpaia Cave

Also known as “the Blue Grotto” of Portovenere, Arpaia Cave is a place of great natural beauty. Accessible only by sea, the cave is surrounded by crystal clear waters and inside you can admire a beautiful blue reflection that illuminates the internal walls.

The Path of the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora delle Grazie

This path, about 3 kilometers long, starts from Portovenere and leads to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces.
This path offers a breathtaking view of the Golfo dei Poeti. The Sanctuary is a very important pilgrimage site for devotees of the Virgin Mary.

Portovenere Beaches

Portovenere offers several beautiful beaches that are worth visiting. Among the most famous are the Palmaria Beach, the Olivo Beach and the Mustica Beach. These stretches of coast are ideal for those looking for a relaxing day between the crystal clear sea and the pebble beach.

Portovenere Bay is a magical place. With its crystal clear waters and breathtaking landscape, the bay is an ideal place for those who love nature and tranquility. There are many activities to do, including diving, sailing and snorkeling.

Visiting Portovenere is a romantic experience that will leave you breathless. I hope I have encouraged you to spend a day in this beautiful seaside village.
