What to See in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 6 Days

Tel Aviv is a city that buzzes with life, blending golden beaches, vibrant street art, lively markets, and ancient history with a modern twist. In this guide, you’ll discover the must-see attractions in Tel Aviv, from cultural icons to trendy neighborhoods.
Get ready for a journey where tradition meets modernity and surprises await you just around the corner!
Tel Aviv, meaning “Hill of Spring,” is often called “the city that never sleeps.” Over the years, it has transformed into an exciting and captivating destination that will leave you in awe. No wonder it’s also referred to as “the Miami of the Mediterranean”!
Here’s my list of things you absolutely must see and do when visiting Tel Aviv. Think 10 km of sandy beaches, 300 days of sunshine a year, incredible food, and friendly locals. Honestly, I could go on for hours about how fantastic this city is!
Even though I visited during the rare chilly days of December, I was enchanted from the very first moment and fell head over heels in love with it. Celebrating Christmas in a place so culturally different from Italy was a unique experience. Sure, I missed my traditional Christmas tortellini in broth, but it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever!
Now, let’s dive into what you absolutely must see and do in Tel Aviv in 6 days.

COSA TROVERAI IN QUESTO POST:
Explore the Neighborhood of Neve Tzedek
Neve Tzedek is probably Tel Aviv’s prettiest neighborhood, and it’s no wonder it draws so many visitors eager to stroll through its narrow streets and admire its incredible architecture. You’ll find small art galleries, charming boutique shops, and delightful cafés and restaurants perfect for a tasty meal.
Tel Aviv was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003 for its stunning Bauhaus architecture. This style was introduced to the city in the 1930s and 1940s. While only a few hundred of the original 4,000 buildings have been restored, a guided tour is the best way to see the highlights without getting lost!
Step Back in Time in Jaffa
At the southern edge of Tel Aviv lies Old Jaffa. Its narrow, picturesque alleys are perfect for a leisurely stroll.
Getting there is easy: take a scenic walk along the seaside promenade or hop on a bus that will whisk you to Jaffa’s main square in minutes. Jaffa offers a stark contrast to Tel Aviv’s modern hustle and bustle, with a surprising sense of harmony among its diverse communities. Here, Jews and Muslims live side by side in peaceful coexistence.
While in Jaffa, don’t miss the port for breathtaking panoramic views of the city and a visit to the vibrant flea market.

Indulge in a Hummus Feast
When it comes to food, Israelis set the bar high. From fresh salads and tahini to shawarma and, of course, hummus, the culinary options are incredible. Pork maet may be rare here, but trust me, you won’t miss it—everything is delicious.
Friday brunch in Tel Aviv is a must-try, especially as it’s the start of Shabbat. Many restaurants offer spectacular spreads that will leave you full and happy.
The food in Israel is not only delicious but also very healthy. There is an abundance of vegetables and salads and a great selection of vegetarian and vegan food. In fact, Tel Aviv is considered one of the cities with the best food options for vegan travelers.
Hummus is also omnipresent on the tables. You can eat it everywhere and, at the end of the vacation, you can decide which is your favorite, just like I did.
One of my top recommendations for hummus is Onza Restaurant in Jaffa. Not only do they serve the best hummus, but their multicultural menu and chic décor make it a must-visit spot.
Tel Aviv Port is the perfect place for a dinner with friends. In recent years, it has become a very lively place that offers hundreds of cultural events, shopping and a thousand other opportunities for entertainment.

Soak Up the Sun on Tel Aviv’s Beaches
The Mediterranean is just a stone’s throw away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Tel Aviv’s beaches are lively and inviting, perfect for enjoying the country’s long summer season.
While December’s chill kept me from hitting the beach, the city offers over 10 km of sandy shores to explore when the weather is warmer.

Discover Tel Aviv’s Street Art
Street art is everywhere in Tel Aviv. I found stunning murals in Old Jaffa, Gordon Beach, and the HaHagana bus station. If you’re a fan of urban art, you’ll find plenty to admire!
You can even book a guided tour to dive deeper into Israel’s street art scene.
Shop at Carmel Market
A visit to Carmel Market is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in local culture. Bursting with color, aromas, and bustling energy, this market is a feast for the senses. Originally a fruit and vegetable market, it now offers much more.
Stay Active Like the Locals
One thing you’ll notice about Israelis is how fit they are. Despite the incredible food, it’s rare to see anyone out of shape. From cycling and running along the promenade to beach volleyball and matkot (a paddle game similar to beach tennis), staying active is a way of life here.
You’ll even find outdoor gym equipment along the seaside, perfect for squeezing in a quick workout while enjoying the view.
