We are in Longastrino, a small hamlet of Argenta in the province of Ferrara.
Intrigued by the American tradition of the Pumpkin Patch, I wondered if there were similar pumpkin fields in Italy… and the answer is yes!
In Italy, there are many places where you can pick the perfect pumpkin to carve for Halloween!

In this farmstead in the Ferrara area, which can be clearly seen from the road, hundreds of pumpkins adorn the path, carts, doors, and windows… it’s truly a pumpkin paradise!
The owners are very kind and will guide you in choosing your perfect pumpkin, whether for decoration or a typical autumn recipe. It doesn’t matter—here, you’ll find different varieties and a wide range of pumpkin sizes!

Pumpkin Patch in Ferrara

This farmstead is nestled in the countryside between Ferrara and Ravenna, in a small locality called Longastrino, precisely on Via Molinetto.
It is not a park for children or a true Pumpkin Patch as you may imagine… Instead, it is a well-maintained, beautifully decorated old rural farmhouse that sells homegrown fruits and vegetables.

Among other local specialties, here you’ll find a vast variety of pumpkins, both ornamental and edible: green and flat ones, long and narrow ones, huge oval and yellow ones, and, of course, the classic round orange pumpkins!

Children are certainly welcome. They can pick their own pumpkins to place in their wicker baskets and learn to recognize different vegetable varieties.

What is a Pumpkin Patch?

As Halloween approaches, a fun tradition has emerged in the United States: the Pumpkin Patch. Families visit these farms or vast fields to pick their favorite pumpkin to take home—whether for painting, carving, or simply decorating their homes.

In these farms or specially prepared rural estates, activities are often organized for children, including themed games and rustic entertainment. It’s not just fun for the kids—adults love it too!
