Where Bologna Airport is located

Bologna Airport, also known as Guglielmo Marconi Airport of Bologna (or “Il Marconi” – IATA code: BLQ), is located about 6 kilometers northeast of the city center of Bologna, in the Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. Its strategic position makes it an important hub for travelers who intend to explore not only Bologna but also the surrounding cities.

G. Marconi Airport is recognized as a strategic airport within the National Airport Plan. Its location in the heart of the renowned Food Valley and Motor Valley of Emilia makes it a key hub for travelers and tourists looking to explore not only Bologna but also the surrounding cities.

Getting to Bologna G. Marconi Airport by car or taxi

The most direct solution is to take a taxi or use your own vehicle. The airport is well connected to major roads and highways, including the A14 highway, with exit 4bis of the bypass right there.
The travel time can vary depending on traffic, but it is usually about 15-20 minutes from the center of Bologna.

If you arrive in Bologna, you can find the taxi stand on the ground floor, outside the “Arrivals” area.
The Radio Taxi numbers are as follows: Co.ta.bo: 051 372727 and Radio Taxi Cat: 051 534141

If you are dropped off at the airport by a friend or relative, there is a “Kiss and Fly” area where you can park for free for up to 10 minutes. Follow the signs for Kiss and Fly.

For medium stays, from 15 minutes to a few days, you can access parking areas, better explained in the next section.

Bus Line 944: The new shuttle connects Ospedale Maggiore to the Airport, making several stops along the way: Santa Viola, Pontelungo, Triumvirato, and Birra. It is useful for interchanging with other lines of the urban and suburban bus network.
The service runs every day from 5:00 am to 00:45, with departures every 20 minutes at a cost of 4 euros, which can be purchased on the Tper website, through the Roger app, at automatic ticket machines at the airport, at ticket counters, and Tper retailers (such as tobacconists).

If you prefer to travel by train, you can use the brand-new “Marconi Express” which connects G. Marconi Airport to Bologna Centrale Station in just 7 minutes. The service operates from 5:40 am to 12:00 am, every day, including holidays.
